Larry Dean is a double Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and star of Live At The Apollo. You would have seen on Melbourne International Comedy Fest Gala, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, Mock The Week and Roast Battle.
Chris Kent, the multi-award-winning Irish comedian from Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and BBC’s Young Offenders.
Eddy Brimson, as seen on Eastenders, Casualty, Silent Witness and Absolutely Fabulous.
Bob Franklin, award-winning Welsh comedian, writer and actor; seen in countless Australian television shows and movies including Shaun Micallef’s World around Him, The Mick Molloy Show, Thank God You’re Here, Talking ‘bout Your Generation, Please Like Me, Jack Irish, The Craic and Bad Eggs.
These huge shows will be MC’d by the UK’s hilarious Dan Willis – the comedy world record holder as the first comedian to perform six one hour shows a day at the Edinburgh Festival without repeating material.
Nominated Best Comedy Show – FRINGE WORLD “Best of British is one of the greatest nights of comedy on the International Comedy Festival calendar, for good reason. You’re getting exactly what you paid for: a top-class night of some of the best British humour.” Herald Sun ★★★★, 2016. “Comedians of the highest quality” ★★★★★ Funny Tonne, 2019.
Best of British is on at The Court from 17 January to 14 February (except 19 & 26 January). Check out the website for timings and to grab your tickets.
2019 Fringe World Best Comedy Weekly Winner, Troy Hawke returns to Perth with his new show, Tiles of the Unexpected.
Troy is always on a quest to understand the simplest of things and shares his own conspiracy theories – including the Scrabble theory. Last year, our favourite 1930’s throwback investigator exposed Aldi’s links to the Illuminati. Now he is back in Perth to entertain Fringe World audiences with his exposé on Swedish furniture giant Ikea!
Troy Hawke was a total sellout in Perth and Edinburgh in 2019 so don’t miss out on your chance to see him!
“One of the most accomplished & enjoyably daft character comics on the circuit today” ★★★★★ Wee Review, 2019. “I promise it will be a highlight of your Fringe” ★★★★★ VoiceMag, 2019. “The audience were absolutely beside themselves and I promise it will be a highlight of your fringe” ★★★★★ Voice Mag.
You can catch Troy Hawke at the Brass Monkey Hotel in Northbridge at 7pm each night from 2-16 February. Tickets are available from the Fringe World website.
Lou Conran makes her Perth debut at Fringe World 2020 with her new show Maybe Baby. She tells us the tragic true story of losing her daughter five months into her pregnancy and brings light and humour to this taboo subject.
Lou opens up a conversation about her experience and puts a cheeky spin on the events leading up to the loss, all while delivering a powerfully emotive, yet hilarious show. She feels the most important thing is that the audience are encouraged to relax and have a laugh. “Baby loss is something which so many experience and we need to talk about it, to acknowledge those babies,” she says. “Comedy can make things more accessible. If you can ease people in with a laugh, you can say more. You have them listening.”
“Don’t be deterred, for she has deftly navigated a way through the sensitive subject, finding the funny” ★★★★ Chortle.
“A must see!” ★★★★ Fest Magazine
Lou is performing at the Brass Monkey Hotel in Northbridge at 5.45pm each night from 2-16 February (except 5 & 12). Tickets are available from the Fringe World website.
After a sell-out success at Perth Fringe World 2019, Dan Willis is coming back to Perth for one more show!
A Whinging Pom’s Guide is an insight into the funny side of Australia – through the eyes of a pom. Dan Willis shares his hilarious take on the weather, our fantastic sayings, the size of our spiders and of course, how well (or not) we are doing in the cricket! Prepare for side-splitting laughs every minute as he delves into Australian culture and compares it to English traditions. This show is enjoyed by Australian and English audiences alike!
‘Unpretentious, informal, belly laughs a minute stand-up. ★★★★’ ThreeWeeks (UK) ’55 minutes of side-splitting laughter. ★★★★★’ Plains Producer
This once-off performance is on at the Comedy Lounge at 4pm on 26 October. For more information, visit the Facebook event here or purchase tickets here.
This year I ran the front of house for Adam Hall’s series of events at Fringe World 2019. Not only did two events get nominated for the Music and Musicals Award, but we won it for the Great American Songbook! Huge congratulations to the massively talented musicians Adam Hall, Adrian Galante and Bronton Ainsworth, and thanks to The Sewing Room for being such an accommodating venue. Once again Maree Laffan provided us with her exceptional photography skills and Greg Hall and Kylie Stirk assisted with putting together the sets. It was a crazy experience, but definitely a lot of fun! We will be working together again for Fringe 2020!
Best of British Productions is bringing their most talented comedians to Perth for a series of stand-up shows during the Fringe World Festival.
Best of British is a showcase of the finest British comedians, many of whom appear regularly at the top comedy clubs in the UK. This year’s exclusive line-up includes Mandy Knight (recent winner of UK Comedy’s “Comedians Comedian- MC of the Year”), Carey Marx (two-time winner of Best International Show at the New Zealand Comedy Festival), Milo McCabe (two-time nominee for Best show at the Edinburgh Festival) and Dan Willis (comedy world record holder as the first comedian to perform six one hour shows a day at the Edinburgh festival without repeating material).
PLUS… there will be a different surprise guest every day (previous years have included Sarah Millican, Jimeoin, Russell Kane and Jimmy Carr!)
Dan Willis is also performing his own solo show, Australia: A Whinging Poms Guide. He moved here a few years ago and it took him a while to adjust to our laid-back way of life; therefore he has many hilarious and unique stories to share. This will be a favourite amongst all the ex-pats as I’m sure they will be able to relate! Tickets can be purchased here: https://fringeworld.com.au/whats_on/australia-a-whinging-poms-guide-fw2019
For something a bit different, try The Ashes: Comedy Showdown. A bunch of Australian and British comedians go head to head in a test series to prove which country is funnier. You don’t need a knowledge of cricket to watch this, you just need to enjoy a bit of healthy competition! This was nominated for Best Comedy Show at Fringe World in 2016 and is sure to be a hit again! Tickets to all five parts are available here: https://fringeworld.com.au/whats_on/the-ashes-comedy-showdown-fw2019
Milo McCabe is making his debut in Perth with his critically-acclaimed character stand-up show 1001 Moments with Troy Hawke! Troy is on a quest to understand the simplest of things and shares his own conspiracy theories – including the Scrabble theory (you have to hear this!) He was awarded the British Fringe Guide Top Recommended Shows of 2017 and 2018 so you know this will be an un-missable show! Get your tickets here: https://fringeworld.com.au/whats_on/milo-mccabe-1001-moments-with-troy-hawke-fw2019
I know that’s a lot of options, so if you aren’t sure what to see, Best of Fringe: Early Show is perfect as it showcases several fantastic comedians in a mini-gala. As it is on early, you will still have time to buy a ticket to see your favourite act in full that evening! This has been a sellout at Adelaide Fringe & Melbourne Comedy Festival from 2008 – 2017, so don’t wait too long to get your tickets from here: https://fringeworld.com.au/whats_on/best-of-fringe-early-show-fw2019
